SD cards for MP3 player

SD cards for MP3 player
Has anyone experience of using an SD card larger than 256Mb capacity in the MP3 player slots behind the NAV+ unit? My manual (2004 Allroad 2.5TDI) says 256Mb is max, but wondered if this was just because that was the commonly available max capacity then.
These slots are really handy but would like to use 1Mb cards in there!
Thanks for your help.

Re: Up to 4GB per SD cards for RNS-E. I am using 2GB cards.
Thanks for your response Alrightroad. What is RNS-E? Is this the standard Audi Satnav+ head unit which includes the 2 SD slots behind the screen? If so, that's excellent!

Since your ar is a 2004 model year, I am assuming you have RNS-E. RNS-E looks like this...
Yes, should be two slots behind screen. I don't think the old Nav+ unit (with two round ***** on each side of screen) had the SD slots.

http://www.audi-speed.com/community/faq/faq_bild_show.asp?ID=207&copyright=0</a

Yep - that's exactly what I've got - thanks very much for the help. Will now get some 2Gb cards!

4GB cards OK, but...
I am using 4GB cards in my RNS-E with great success - not a hitch.
The key while selecting your SD cards is to stay clear of those types that include SDHC security (you'll find that acronym in the item title or, more likely, in the features description). Those cards WILL interfere with the operation of the reader.
Surprisingly, you'll find that relatively few SD cards exist on today's market without SDHC security - but they are available if you look for them.

just keep in mind that you are limited to 512 files/folders...
...512 items in TOTAL, including the MP3 sings AND and folders/subfolders that you might have.
So, if you have 50 albums with 10 songs each, and each album has a folder, that would not work, since the 500 songs (50x10) plus the 50 folders is too many.
I have about 40+ albums on each of the 2GB SD cards, and there is no problem at all. Also, make sure your song names do not exceed 64 characters (some song names can be long!), and no special characters.
Have fun!!!
