Stereo Code

Stereo Code
I have read dozens of threads on different sites, and I keep seeing the generic answer, "The code is on the sticker in the manual and trunk." Well, a lot of numbers are. Which one (location on the sticker) is the actual code. I tried the two different 4 digit numbers, and neither will unlock my radio. I have an 01 Allroad w/ Bose Symphony system.

I understand that, and the stereo removal keys will be arriving today. I just don't understand how not a single thread can point to which number on the sticker is the correct one for the radio.

On my 04 (Symphony II), the code Audi needs isn't even on a sticker, it was stenciled into the metal side and starts with "AUZ...". Call AoA with that number and your VIN and they will provide the code.

I believe you are referring to the serial number. You need that and the Vin to call AoA and get the 4 digit code to punch into the radio to unlock it. It is printed on the build sticker that is placed in the vehicles maintenance pamphlet, and also in the spare tire well of the Allroad. It tried the two 4 digit numbers on those stickers, and neither unlocked the radio.

Correct. I have mine now - the card was removed from the stereo manual by previous owner and not supplied - and I do have my maintenance booklet with the build sticker so let me see if I can divine which of the many codes on that sticker it is.

I appreciate that! I only found two 4 digit codes on the sticker in my spare tire well. One on the top right, and one in the lower left, I believe.

Found out why my code didn't work. I pulled the radio out, and the first thing I saw was the warranty seal was ripped. The radio is a refurbished from VW. Now I don't know what to do. I have the serial number, plus the refurbished serial number, so hopefully this was done at the dealer. If so, it should be in thier database. I think I'll call me local VW dealership Monday. They should kiss my *** anyway, because they sold my wife her brand new/recalled TDI.

So I went to the AoA site last night, and they have a 24/7 online chat. You CAN get your radio code through that, but since mine was replaced, she will get back to me in 1-2 business days. If I can't get it through them, it looks like it's aftermarket for me.
