Default Is there a secondary air injection system in the 2.7T 6MT?

C5 Allroad 2.7T 6MT

I recently threw CEL P0492 - Insuficcient flow, secondary air injection system, bay 2. I figured it was a cracked hose because it was only one code rather than 2, but when I opened my (Bently Publishing) service manual it said, "Secondary air injection is used in normally aspirated engines, and in turbocharged engines with automatic transmission. [pg 26-10]."
What gives? I ran the VIN to make sure nobody swapped the tranny and it came up with 6spd. Even comparing the schematic to my engine, I have the air injection pump motor in the correct location even though it says that should only be there in the auto.

Is the secondary air injection system supposed to be in the 2.7t with a manual tranny?

Thanks in advance!

i know the best way to check is to look at the driver side of the engine toward the rear and slightly under the y-pipe.
should see the pump there

all allroads have EGR. Rip bentley in half leaving only electrical schematics and toss the other part out - this is how useful it is!

I agree with this

Do yourself a favor: go on ebay and buy a cd repair manual for $15. Yep, that is right, $15. Beats the Bentley cd, because it has a whole lot of audi models, AND you can PRINT all the pages you want. And I verified the info against Bentley cd: all the same. I have all three: Bentley paper, Benttley CD, and bootleg ebay cd

Even a PDF version is more useful: because you can print. I got one of those for my Jetta. It's not as easy to find things(thousands of pages), but once you get used to it, it's not that bad...

Its NOT an EGR. Its SAI, Secondary air injection, it just runs a pump and blows air in the exhaust to warm up the converters. EGR is totally different thus the different name, exhaust gas recirculation, it lets exhaust gasses into the intake to dilute the fuel mixture to lower combustion temps to lower NOX emissions.

As far as why your car has SAI when its a manual, I notice the later years, like 04-05 all have it regardless of Auto or manual. The early 2.7T cars manuals never had it.

I have a 2001 6mt and it has a SAI pump. It's bitchin' on cold stars for a few minutes
Which brings the question? Does anyone know why is there a relocation kit for it? I know i read somewhere about it. Cant remember if here...Also anyone know the part number for the kit?

You mean the after-run water pump relocating kit or the SAI blockoff plates?
