Default Thoughts on Arnott Gen II airbags

Hi all,

I posted this more general thread last night, here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...ebate-2885175/

But I wanted to see if there were more specific reviews/experience with the Gen II Arnott airbags. Have many of you upgraded to the Gen II airbags? Are they more reliable than the Gen I bags? Have people experienced leaks with the Gen II bags?

Thanks, David

Sorry, can't speak to Gen II reliability. After talking with Arnott, I went with the Gen I in the rear as they told me the Gen II would provide a stiffer ride. Since it's my wife's car, she places ride comfort above handling performance. So far, so good after 18 months - no leaks.

I put Gen II's all around in November of 2010. They are stiffer than the stock springs in my other ar. If the car sits without use for a week and a half, they will leak down, but my factory bags on the other car do that too.
Other than that and the Bilstien shock absorber issue, we have no problems, and I don't consider the leakdown an issue.

Have had Gen II for about two years now with no leaks. After much consternation decided to keep OEM shocks and I love the combination. Slightly firmer but rides very nicely; have a sports car with upgraded suspension ('88 BMW 325iC) that I can take out and get my fix, allroad is my DD. Got tired of changing OEM bags so very happy to date.

I'm glad to see that people in my area are having more issues than others (Not glad they have issues, glad the info is out there). New England road are terrible, and tend to eat these air bags up. Guess I'm going with steelies.
