AR 4.2L. To buy or not to buy...
Have an option on an '04 4.2L with around 80k with a history of a rear impact with minor damage according to Carfax. The car was repaired. Long distance purchase. I already know to get it thoroughly checked out, but wondering if its a good purchase and how much should I offer?

Wouldn't do it for that price. Have you talked to Bruce M? If you are willing to buy outside your area, there's a very, very slim chance he can't find you a better vehicle for less.

I've heard of this BruceM. fella. I'm obviously willing to buy outside my area per my original post. Late model 4.2 is the only option for me. point me in the direction of this Bruce M. character. [QUO

Considering rear end damage, I personally would not buy it at all. Without a persona inspection or a pre buy inspection from someone you can trust, its too much of a gamble.
The allroad's electronics and suspension ar ethe first to come to question even without the rear end hit.. with it: compressor, manifold, pressure lines, etc.
Someon had what looked like a minor rear end hit a year or so ago. We saw pictures of it.. but the exhaust, wich took the hit, pushed the motor forward. It was a mess and a total.
Take it from the braintrust.. stay away, unless you can get a great inspection and know every detail of the past damage.
