Default Updated output shaft for the tiptronic

After replacing my leaking tailshaft seal, I took it for a test drive and came back to see the thing leaking again. This time I even removed the whole rear housing face that the seal sits in, and set the seal in on my work bench to make sure it was seated properly. This seal is troublesome enough that audi made an updated seal (PN#: 01v 409 399a) and an updated output shaft (PN#: 01v 409 809a). Has anyone done this upgrade? Does it actually work and avoid leaking? The dealership quoted me $590 for the updated shaft, and $71 dollars for the seal. Which is pretty crazy.

Does anyone know if these updated parts were simply manufactured to replace the old parts, or were they used as stock OEM parts on newer/other audi-VW vehicles as well? The reason I'm asking is maybe I could try to source the updated output shaft from a wreck of one of these cars (if they exist) for much cheaper than audi wants.

I do not think you should look for an 'updated' shaft or whatsoever.
I have the very first example of MY2000. I had leak, too, and it was fixed with the OEM seal (not updated) no leaks anymore. There might be some kind of different problem, you may check again.
