Default VIN # and Torque Convertors

Hi all! I've been researching a purchase of an Allroad (formerly owned a 2.8l C5 Avant) for my wife. I think I've decided I'd like to find a 4.2L and new as possible. I've noticed a few threads suggesting 2004 and 2005 Allroads MAY have an upgraded Torque Convertor or Transmission, but can't find any definitive information. Can you tell buy the build date or VIN? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers - Nate

As far as I know they are all 5hp transmissions manufactured by ZF. But the 5hp has many sub models depending on torque rating. My 2.7t allroad has a 5hp19. The v8 has the 5hp24a that is rated for 320 ft lbs
