Default What to purchase to test power at secondary air pump

So new to the technical side of testing vehicle electronics here...

I have a P0491 and P0492. Dealership told me that the secondary air pump was not responding. I am assuming they checked the relay and fuse. But I would also like to know if I can purchase a cable or something to put power from the battery to the pump.

Can anyone tell me what I would buy to do that? I do not have a VAG also FYI.

Thanks

never hurts to check the fuse anyway
its a big 40 amp fuse in the ECU box
to check the pump, pull it out and put 12v to it, either from the car battery or drill battery

if you do end up needing a pump, i have one boxed and ready to ship, with the bracket and assorted plumbing pieces

Thanks man! I will check the fuse tonight. So my question is how do I put power to it? Is there a device that has a positive and negative that hooks up to the battery and with two prongs that I would put in the female part of pump?

Whats your price on the pump, I was checking some audi and bosch ones out on ebay.

Pretty solid info already posted above, so I don't have much to add.

One thing that is definitely worth doing is applying power to the pump for a second or two, and if the pump is working as supposed, then suspect a short somewhere. Just an extra test to be 100% sure.

I like to use a power probe, because it has an internal circuit breaker to prevent injuries like a wire heating up in your hand when trying to apply power, if the pump is indeed seized.
