Wheels & Summer Work

Wheels & Summer Work
Hey guys,
It's nearly time to start working on my Allroad!!!
I am going to do a total overhaul of my 04 2.7T manual
Clutch
Turbos
timing chain & everything in-between
Also, Looking to do some new tires and wheels - Like to go small wheels and thick rubber tires.
The wife and I want to do a long road trip around North America
Thinking of upgrading my Turbos - throw a heavy clutch in - Replace all the front components (water pump, temp, timing chain, plugs, gaskets)
let me know what you guys think -
Also, going to be that guy who builds out a subaru front bar for some added lights plus that led bar on my roof rack
Thanks for any information

Of course my friend -
Nearly anything I can replace or has a chance to be problematic will be replaced
Anyone have tire and Wheel suggestions
Looking for a small wheel that I can run thick rubber on
Ideas?

Why do you want taller sidewalls? Better ride quality? The air shocks should take care of that.
Be careful with taller sidewalls on a car this heavy and slightly top heavy. It will handle like a Durango.

Reason I am looking at taller sidewalls is due to this camping trip the wife & I will be taking this fall.
Also, I pull my boat a ton -
Let's poor wording - Like to have a tire with ***** or something that won't let me down -

So you just need a good all season. I'm running these on my car:
Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus
They don't seem to beefy, but they handle snow and mud as well as my Jeep did, and ride smooth and quiet on the highway.

You don't want to change ride quality too much, you have 17' wheels? I wouldn't downsize... you should be able to add an inch of sidewall and tread without getting too crazy. Be careful of the offset, allroad has a pretty uncommon one. Just a small change from factory spec can really have an impact on ride quality and gear ratio/timing
Check out tires online and check out a compro site like this: https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to see how much your sidewall height will change.
I have stock 18' on mine with continental extreme contacts... thing could climb a mountain as is. I've had a few 4x4 3/4 ton trucks and I would take my Allroad any day of the week and twice on Sunday over those pigs.
I just got m factory 18' refurbished and they look better than mint, if you're just concerned about damage or aesthetics check out that option.

Great reply - All good information - The things I haven't thought about quickly come into light
The current tire I have been running is the
Michelin 235/65R17 Primacy MXV4
Been a great tire with little issue - Been in the high country of Colorado and the sand of Western Oregon - never been stuck due to tire (yet) but they are in great need of replacement!
TireSize.com seems to be a great resource thank you NikkyG
Am I over thinking tires?
Would this be over kill for my Allroad?
Michelin LTX A/T 2 - 235/65R17

Tire size is fairly irrelevant for traction, unless you are deep mudding.
I would go to tirerack.com and read the reviews. See what is important to you, and check the ratings in that area. No reason to alter your factory tire size. That would concern me with he speed sensors and other computer functions talking to each other.
