We stayed at the
Wellvital Hotel Rübezahl
Am Ehberg 31
Schwangau, Schwaben 87645 Germany
When we did a ED. It was very nice, hotel backed up to a farm with nice views and we could see the castle from our balcony. Good food as well. When we went to the castle we drove up and parked in a public lot without issues, but I think the hotel has a shuttle service available if you desire.

Love to hear about your trip. We are taking delivery August 12th of a 2015 A7 (replacing a 2012 A7). Will be traveling to Lindau (Germany), Zell am See (Austria), Salzburg (Austria) and then back to Munich for drop-off.
Spent considerable time on Google Maps and various websites finding routes off the beaten path to enjoy the car.
Wife has given the order that this is a vacation and that doesn't mean sitting in a car the whole day (clearly her idea of vacation and mine are slightly different)
