Default Audi Gamma Bose power switch

So I have heard of several people that have fixed the issue with the power/volume ****, where it won't stay on unless you hold the volume all the way up. I've got the top and bottom of the radio off, but can't figure out how to get the volume **** off, or what else I need to do to fix this problem...
Any suggestions or a link to a write up? Couldn't find one in my searches

Dave doesn't actually know. BUT he does know how to search.

I think the **** comes straight off - pull hard.

On another forum, someone had a similar issues and the answers included:

"I salvaged a volume **** from another unit and soldered it in, it helped a little bit, but there still was a problem cutting out. Mine would make the crackle and power surge, replacing it fixed the crackle and surge, but it would still turn off at certain positions" - jstoker

"You can use CRC contact cleaner and lubricant sprays- get them at Home Depot...Just used them on a Gamma where the volume **** had the same issues, fixed it in about 5 minutes of spray, work volume ****, repeat. Once the volume ramped smoothly again I hit it with the lubricant, which should help keep it working." - boxflares (Steve M.) (RIP Steve)

"So you have the popping/crackling **** syndrome (PCKS)? I haven't tried cleaning it yet, but I usually just grab the **** and start turning it quickly in both directions back and forth. After about a minute of doing this the PCKS is gone. It HAS to be oxidization that's causing this, I can't think of any other reason that it would be fixed by doing that. Sad part is that it only lasts for a few weeks at a time and seems to come back sooner when there's more moisture in the air. I live in Seattle so that's pretty much always." -snowman '92 100

Thanks dave. I've tried contact cleaner a little. I think I'll give it another try and just keep working it! I searched for a while and read through several threads, but don't rememver coming across that one!
