Default Head rebuild and refresh

I am going to start a mini-project of refreshing my 250k '95 S6 for hopefully another 100k of smooth running. I would like to do a few things:

1) head rebuild and all associated seals and hardware
2) turbo rebuild w/rebuilt waste gate
3) replace main bearings

Ill probably find lots of other little things to replace along the way too.

Is there anything else major you all would recommend doing while I have the car apart?

This will be my first head rebuild. There is a machine shop with a good reputation and was recommended by the Audi performance shop here in Durham, NC, so I plan to use them. Besides the high miles the main reason I want to do a head rebuild is that there was a oil leak a while back and I let the level get really low. The head makes a loud ticking noise now and I am wondering if a fouled a cam bearing, if that is possible?? I have been searching around and can't find new ones for sale anywhere or much other information. I also would like to place many of the seals in the head and don't see a kit from typical suppliers.

Also, is it worth while to replace the timing chain?
EFI Express : audi 20vt DOHC chain for 5 cylinder 20vt engines [077109120] - $30.00

Is it typical to replace the head studs after taking the head off? Past motors I have worked on use stretch bolts that require replacement.

Thanks for any knowledge you all can provide! Its my first time diving into these motors.

found a bit more information and thus more questions!

1) where can I purchase new lifters? I see valve guides for sale, but not sure about lifters.
2) The motor has never been run hard/beyond stock boost. Do I need to replace exhaust valves?

Wish I knew all the answers for you but most of those are over my head. I'd try the QW forum for way more info. Most replace with APR studs perhaps.

There's a lot of stuff that will be easy to get to while you are doing this. Like coolant return hose off water manifold, and PCV parts that wear out.

You might want to upgrade the EM and turbo while you're doing all that and get a proper tune to match. I'm sure others can give more info...
