How Much Boost?
I installed an AutoPower Boost/Vacuum gauge.
My S-6 was just tuned & runs good. I've only had it for a short while so I am not sure how strong it should be.
I don't know what kind of chip it has. It does have an RS-2 exhaust manifold & I was told it had a chip installed by Anderson's in MN. Haven't had the computer apart to check.
Anyhow, it runs about 15 pounds vacuum at idle, and a little more running without boost.
Maximum boost I see is 15-16 Lbs. When I wind the car up you can feel the overboost, but the gauge doesn't show any additional boost.
What might the possibilities be? I was expecting more boost than that!
Thanks,
Tom

1. Vacuum is measured in inches of mercury (Hg) not pounds (per square inch).
2. 15 or 16 pounds per square inch (psi) gauge is about right for a stock ECU car. A chipped Stage 1 ECU (with the stock 250 kPa MAP sensor) should be up in the 18 to 20 psig range. A Stage 1+ ECU (with a 300 kPa MAP sensor) should be in the 21 to 23 psig range.

Thanks, Dave. I also want to thank you for your overall guidance and well-organized library which were invaluable in my prepping this S-6 to be a daily driver. We use the term in the Aerospace industry: CCV--Clear, Concise, Valid. Great job & obviously a labor of love. It is with enthusiasm but some trepidation that I put this car in service as I drive from Boston to Hartford twice a week, leaving out at 4AM. Couldn't think of a better bad-weather ride, but who wants to get stranded at that time of the AM. I attached a picture of the offal from following most of the FAQ's--
Thanks again,
Tom

Tom,
You are right about both. Dave is the man. Also, I got caught coming back from Boston to NJ in a snow storm. Street tires, first time in my S4 in the snow. All the SUVs were spinning off the road and the S4 was on rails. Never slipped once. I have a 4WD truck but this has more traction. Awesome. Good luck.

Tom: Thanks. I *do* try to be clear, concise and valid (I am an engineer and taught at a university for 15 years before going into consulting for a subsequent 20 years).
Sadly I know every part in your box. *Fortunately* I don't remember their part numbers. That would be way too OCD.
