Default My gas pedal fell off. ???

Weird. Just took my car for a short ride after I unplugged the phone antenna from the signal mixer in the back of the wagon in an attempt to improve my FM reception, and when I was pulling back in the cover of the gas pedal just fell off on to the floor. It looks like there's a plastic living hinge that failed... anybody have this happen? What's the best sort of fix?

This is a common problem. The entire pedal assembly needs to be replaced; you can't just replace the cover.

It's not a very difficult job but the pedal mounts (two, I think) are stuffed up in a corner of the footwell. When you replace the pedal, you'll just want to watch out not to mess up the accelerator cable.

It's been a while since I replaced mine but that's what I remember. I remember being amazed how heavy the pedal was. These cars are carved from stone.

Most repair it by using 2 screws on either side of the bottom of the pedal cover.

Huh. How strange that they would use a living hinge for this application, since they have such low lifespans. Weird.

So, o long dead forum thread - of course this has happened to me - when you talk about adding screws to the bottom cover - could you share a picture or diagram of what needs to be done?

EDIT:
I found a useful thread on QW:
