Thanks for the reply. We just got back from looking a a 68 mustang and she fell in love with it. She loves the v8 growl as she calls it. And the fact that it has no smog. She is worried abou getting the audi smoged later down the road once I go bigger turbo and engine management.

Ok so my lovely wife has convinced me to maybe sell my baby but I would have to get close to 8000.00 at the minimum to even think about selling her. I have put almost 20k into her in the last 3 years and just had the timing belt done at 179000 3 months ago. All work was done at 2 Bennett. So let me know if anybody is interested? Mike

Man, that's a lot of recent upgrading and cash to sell for ~$8k. Not sure I could do it myself. At least you are in Cali, the land of custom, where more people would be looking for such a unique S6.

Good luck, just sold my mostly stock '95 with 180k for $4,600, in about a week.

Yea I'm hoping I can keep it. I really have big plans still for her. So you just have your 93. Why did you sell it?

Sold the S4 to get the S6.

Wanted my 1 car (manual 4 door german sedan) to be newer than 20 years old.

I have owned several cars over my life, all of them A titles that I have driven tons of miles (150K on my '86 16V Scirocco, 330K on my '90 Coupe Quattro, 180K on my '95 Sport 90, 220K on my 95.5 S6 and 130K on my '08 S6). All of them have been German (either VW's or Audi's). I have driven many cars over my life and I have yet to find any cars that come close to German engineering when looking at all-around performance, enjoyment and ownership experience. If your wife were telling you to sell the S6 to buy a 1996 Porsche 911 4S, I would say go for it, but to dump a premium car for one that I would consider a downgrade from a driving perspective makes no sense.

Now if I am wrong and you are owning these cars to sit in a garage and bring to car shows, then there are other factors to consider. But if you are talking about a daily driver, there is no comparison from a 68 Mustang to an UrS6.

Besides the driving aesthetics, these pre-OBD-II cars are the last of a breed of vehicle that you can actually work on. Many sites and dedicated individuals are still very interested in their survival and while 10 years from now you may have issues with supply, right now there is a plethora of various parts available, both new OEM, Audi, Aftermarket and used. Probably the worst availability has to do with body parts, but there are other options there as well.

As far as the future is concerned, if she cannot find someone to help with your car after your demise, there will be a market for these vehicles for some time, most likely from people like me or others who have discovered these vehicles. I currently own a 95 B4 Sport Quattro, 2008 S6 and the 95.5 S6 My recent story is some misguided soul decided to make an illegal left killing my A title 95.5 S6 with 220K on it (one I had just put $10K in engine & suspension work at 190K miles). While I had many options to choose from, I sought out and found another 95.5 with 120K miles and spent more than I wanted, but got a vehicle that put me back where I wanted to be. I enjoy driving the 95.5 more than the '08 in some ways, that is how impressive these vehicles are.

What this story tells you is that there will always be a market for these vehicles, and that your wife would be well served to let you enjoy your investment for a while longer and then, after you have enjoyed your work, you can look at selling it to another UrS admirer. Trust me, there will plenty around for quite some time.
