Default Help me find a new camera...

My Cannon SD100 (3.0 megapixel) digital camera just died the other day, so I need to find a replacement.

I know this should be on the off-topic forum, but what can I say, I value the advice of other ur-S car owners more.

So, I have no idea how to choose, but... I really don't want to spend mch more than about $200.

I was thinking about this one, but I HATE that f'ing Sony memorystick BS!!!! I want something that takes an SD card.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W55

So, here's the recs...

7.2 megapixel (or, more)
SD or mini-SD card format
takes good (at least decent) indoor pictures
prefer a manual lense cover/ON
firewire would be nice (because I have a Mac)

I really prefer using the memory card (and f' that memory card $hit) as I have a Dazzle card adapter that goes right into the laptop. I hate using the cumbersome software that comes with these things...

Anyways, this is long enough. Any advice or ideas would be helpful. THANKS!

Default I was told that Cannon takes a better image by...

..Keh.com they have used cameras too. I've bought from Keh several times and tested their return policy, which was hassle free.

Even more OT, how do you like your Discovery? Are they as bad to maintain as people claim?

Default I recently bought a Samsung L77, and it is an AWESOME camera!

It is super thin, easy to use, and has some pretty great features. Here is a review: http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3114

It is a bit more than 200, but I am here to tell you that it is a great little camera, and pretty tough too!

Default B&H photo is the gold standard of camera retailers

They're legendary in the NYC area and worldwide for consumer and professional photo gear. Talk to one of their camera experts on the phone and they can help guide you. They carry all the major brands.

http://www.bhphoto.com/</a

Default Yeah - generally seems to be true

I tried lots before settling on Canon Powershot series. Had a couple of Minolta's & Kodak's before that - Canon color was noticeably better.

Default Well, I'm a big fan of Cannon optics, but....

My current camera had some challenges. Overal a decent camera, but HORRIBLE for indoor, and the back screen was too small to tell how your picture turned out.

Then again, it wasn't a very expensive model and its several years old... 4-5 years is like ancient for a technology like this.

Biggest problem was there was a wheel to select between view, video, take picture, etc... And, it was a poor design.
