Default Question about URS6 Locks

I just bought a 95.5 URS6 as my fun solution to a "winter car" (summer 944 needed a break). Anyway, had quick question about the keys used for these cars.

The previous owner said the key works for the ignition, but not the doors. It inserts into the door lock, but will not turn at all. I have two keys for the car, one has a dime-sized button with a small light bulb by the key's base and a chrome Audi logo. The other is the same shape without the chrome logo or lightbulb.

My first though was that my car had a changed ignition cylinder at some point, but the key works for the glovebox.

Is it more likely that all my lock tumbler's were changed at some point? Am I able to call up Audi and get an original key from my VIN number to work for my car? Would love to be able to lock my doors... haha.

Thanks in advance. Will be posting more exciting upgrades/fixes as time goes on, grateful for this community of fellow URS enthusiasts.

That's a weird situation for sure.
Here's a link with a picture of a key quattroworld.com Forums: C4 100/UrS4 Infrared Remote Key - Batteries and Reprogramming and you may want to check out the forum which has a lot more traffic.

If you really have a 95.5 the key is a "side-winder" and is very different than the UrS4 and 95 UrS6 keys. You say that the key works in the ignition and the glovebox. What about the trunk? If it works in the trunk, it could be one of two things:

1. Somebody changed the door locks at some point and they need to be rekeyed or ones keyed from the factory (off your VIN) and installed.

2. The locks are very very dry and need lubrication. I would start here and spray the locks through the key hole with WD40 using the long red tube nozzle. If you get some movement, there is a better lube at your local locksmith's shop.
