Default It's all hypothetical for now

Still, nobody is putting much a stake in the ground. Looks like $5000 minimum just for parts and that doesn't include a cent of labor.

Don't absolutely need the RS2 MAF. We've had that discussion.

Default I think $5k is a good budget to start.

I wouldn't even think of doing the RS2 on the motor until the brakes were done.

And deals can be had, if you know where to look.

I'm going to get away well under $5k, but I'm buying some of my RS2 engine goodies used.

To make it on/under budget, you have to be patient and smart.

And if you are going to throw labor in there, I would say 30 hours, conservatively. I don't think it will take that much, but just to be safe....

Default Yes. Places like IA are hesitant to sell you software unless you get it.

Maybe they are being conservative, or employing the CYA shield - but it *is* a factor in some installations, so it should be mentioned. IMHHEO, of course.

Default I'll fess up............

Now granted I've been very patient and I want to thank Brian Weldon and others here and on Audifans for some great deals over the years on both new and used parts. All the prices you see here are parts only.

Brakes: RS2 brackets, Big Blacks w/ 323 S8 rotors = ~$1000 (New parts)

Suspension: H&R Sports w/ Bilstein Sports w/ ASW camber plates = ~$1200 (includes alignment/labor)

Engine: K26/GT30R BB turbo = $1050
Turbo lines (oil/water) = $300
Sport quattro EM with motor mount brace = $1000
Custom 3" down pipe = $450
Stromung gen 4 exhaust: $1200
FMIC: 22x9x3.5 core, custom unit w/ pipes = $450
Methanol injection = $350
Hyperbooste BPV = $100
Samco's = $200
Fluidyne Oil cooler w/ custom lines, ducted where stock IC was = $200
Scat forged rods = $500
ARP head studs = $170
Compression lower HG = $60
H.O Coils from 034 = $675
7A cams = $180
7A valve cover = $60
42lb injectors (need to go bigger) = $200
bosch 044 fuel pump = $225
JB racing 10.5 lb fly wheel = $375
Southbend stage 4 clutch = $425
Billzcat short shifter $145
70mm throttle body = $190
Custom tune once it's together at EPL, perhaps another $800-$1000.

So all together it's over $10K in parts alone and I know I'm missing stuff. Figure some serious labor if you don't do it youself and as you can see to do it right it can get quite expensive. Still cheaper than going stage 3 on a B5S4 and I'm the only one who shows up at local GTG's w/ a C4 S6 Avant so I feel so special!!

Now it's far from a daily driver, if it were my daily driver..............well with gas and insurance I'd never have this as a daily but if I did I'd stop at RS2.

So there you have it...........way too much money into an old wagon but I really don't have any other expensive vices so what the hell.

Now on to my Turbobrick!!

Good luck 8^)

Default How do you figure?

And "doing it right" is surely a HUGE matter of opinion, yes?

Brakes are the minimum supporting mod, then you have the minimum engine stuff to support RS2 turbo/EM.

Minimum to do it safely with longevity.

Like the RS2 MAF. Not strictly necessary, and not necessarily part of "doing it right" (opinions differ) - $600.

That's just for example.
