Default R8 Oil Change Instructions

I'm looking for step by step instructions on changing the oil in my R8.

I'm sure these elusive instructions are in the service manuals which i'm also having a hard time locating.

Any help would be appreciated...especially if such help involves you scanning the instructions from YOUR manual and posting them or sending them directly to me! Tips from those of you who have done this yourselves are also welcome.

Much appreciated in advance!

You should have a free service on the car. Why not take advantage of it?

Default Get My Hands Dirty etc

I like washing my own car...and working on it as much as is feasible. For me...gaining a first hand experience with my cars gives me a greater appreciation for the engineering that goes into it.

I also don't want to wait 7500 miles for my first oil change....don't care what the MFG says it can't be a good idea to leave the break-in oil in my engine that long.

I'm old school when it comes to my car...i'm guessing it's a lot easier working on my 1962 mercedes 300SE than the R8...but something tells me nothing is more difficult than working on my 1972 citroen SM...which i've done extensive work on in my shop.

Default The first service is at 5K miles or 12 months whichever comes first; you can purchase the Audi Care

Maintenance Pkg. for $650 which covers the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th services; AoA gives you the first one at no charge.

Interesting, in the UK the options were "regime" 10k/12mnths or "flexible" up to 20k/2 years

Default It's 5000 miles for the first change.

The car also uses a dry sump system. So unless you're familiar with how to change the oil on one of those systems I wouldn't try it. From what the techs tell me it's a long process. I'd rather not void the engine warranty on a $26k engine.

Default I'm with you..

I agree, I'd like to change mine too. Biggest benefit is that the car does not come homw with oil and grease stains on the interior and carpet.

I just changed my 911 oil this weekend. It's very enjoyable. But, I'm an old mechanic.

Default Dry sump is not big deal.

Same as regular, just another tank to drain.

Default While this won't give you any specifics, here are some things to keep an eye out for

in general. It may or may not be applicable.

Default Re: The first service is at 5K miles or 12 months whichever comes first; ...

Granted it has been 9 years since my last Audi purchase, but do Audis no longer come with the 4/5 years of service included, or just the R8?

I have both an A6 Avant and an R8 coming in the next 3 months and I never even thought to ask...
