I have read many threads, reviews, etc and still very confused. Right now I have an old ipod touch 4th gen, 30pin cable, it used to play audio, go through playlists, and charge. Well my ipod has finally died. Recently the current ipod does not hold a charge overnight so it dies then there is an error that the cable is not compatible even where the ipod has power. And I am thinking about getting a new ipod 5th gen but from what I am reading there are no cables that do both audio and charge it. Can someone please help me out. I have an Audi A4 2015. I want to just leave my ipod in the car. I can sync it over wifi from the house.

I found one on amazon but it says charge only even though there are threads on here that say it will play audio? White cable.

I recommend getting the tune2air bluetooth adapter. Just charge your ipod with a usb plugged into the cigarette lighter in the center console.

Audi OEM AMI cables will both charge and will pass audio. to the MMI. Cheap offshore cables do not always work. See here for cable and iDevice compatibility:
