Default Question for 5speed6: Know anyone in the Balt-North DC Area experienced with ...

audio install on a b5 S4?
Endeavoring to put an end to my blown front-spkr woes, and it would seem a comprehensive upgrade is in order. I haven't had the experience to preview them, but aficionados (both here and elsewhere) seem to be steering me towards a Dynaudio or Hertz 2-way front speaker solution, with 10" sub, and audison amp, with deleted rear door and deck spkrs. Any observations on such arrangements? I'm trying to keep my price-limit to $2500.
I could e-mail you specifics if you're familiar enough with the layout and inclined to offer an opinion. Thanks!

Default Dynaudio/Hertz and Audison amps for under $2500 installed?

That might be stretching the budget a little thin. Dyns are pretty expensive and depending on which Audison you're looking at those can easily go above $1k.

Default Rough Sketch...

Dybaudio Sys 742's in front
Hertz 10" DVC 4 Ohm Sub
Audison SRX 4.1 amp

All that coming to ~ $1500, plus another $300 in materials.

Default Well the Audison SRX is their entry level amp...The Dynaudio I believe is the wrong part #..

...possibly the System 242's??? If so, excellent speakers. Good choice on the Hertz sub.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone in that area.

It's funny, next week an old friend is coming up from DC to get some stuff installed on his new car.

Default Go big or go home :)

I shopped around for a pair of VRx amps but couldn't find a local dealer or anyone willing to sell it to me. I also couldn't get too much detailed info on how they work with all their control modules so I decided not to pursue it any further.
