Problem with playlist and mp3 on SD card (Audi Q5 2012 MMI). Any known limitations?

Is FLAC better than AIFF?
I was told to import from CD with AIFF. Then I found I could encode AAC (with .mp4 extension) onto my SD card and get the quality better than MP3.
I too am looking for the best sound possible. I was told I could get a bluetooth connection, but not interested with the quality of wireless.
What about burning a CD. Could you get better quality than AAC via CD in the Audi?

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but if anyone has some information on if there is a maximum size SD card this MMI will read? I have to guess a 128Gb card is choking the system?
I've dumped my collection to it, 26Gb, nothing plays. Stripped out just about everything but the album and song files, nothing plays. However, a 256Mb card seemed to play just fine.

32GB is the maximum size, but it's a waste when you have the other limitations imposed on it as previously discussed. I have an aftermarket Alpine head unit that allows me to play flac files and I could use a 32GB SD card, but I use 8GB microSD cards and use a micro SD to USB adapter to connect the cards to the head unit. My point being that you can just use smaller SD cards rather than trying to dump everything onto a single drive. Once you understand the limitations of your system it makes things much easier to manage.
I use a program called Playlist Creator that creates a single playlist for everything contained on the SD card. It works great, but the one caveat is that it likes to put the albums in alphabetical order. You can get around that by numbering the albums in the order you want them played and then create the master playlist.

SD or SDHC, but not SDXC, iirc

Why not just split up your collection and put it on several smaller SD cards? You avoid the problems associated with trying to cram too much info on a single card. I've got all of my files on 8GB micro SD cards. I have the Alpine X701D-A4 head unit and it plays FLAC files so I only have about 15-20 CDs on a single card. An 8GB SD card will hold a lot of mp3 files
