Avoid insurance co and work it out?
So this happened on the way to ikea-my first mistake of the day-
Guy in a crappy accord rear ends my sweet black beauty, after a quick detail, no less. Damage "looks" like its paint deep only, but I'm no expert. I want this blemish to disappear completely, as the car is not even three months old yet.
The guy asks if we can avoid insurance company altogether, and will pay for damage. I want to be sure this is not noticeable when fixed, because if it is, I'll be bummed. Does it look like both bumper and diffuser can be painted, or will one or both need replacement?
I don't want to jam the guy up, but I want this fixed to new asap. Should I let insurance hash it out or try to work with the guy and have it fixed without insurance?

If the damage is slight, you pick the body shop and he would have to agree with their repair cost and pay you. If you feel uncomfortable that you might have issues getting paid, don't mess around and get your insurance company involved. They will get it covered with his insurance company for you. It's not a matter of "jamming him up" as he hit you and is responsible.
