Polishing out the center console wood and fixing squeaks
From my 2007 A6 Avant. I polished the wood finish out once before, but it's gotten all scuffed up over the last 80,000 miles so it's time to do it again. There were also some squeaks/creaks coming from small joints where bits of soda or general gunk had made a home. They are now fixed.

Ok, so I actually did some work on this and here are some pictures. Trying to clean things up after 186,000 miles
The cup holder cover scratches/scuffs
Some wet sanding on the cup holder cover. This was taken before I finished out the sanding
The ash tray cover all scratched up
The ash tray cover polished out
It's not perfect, but darn better than it started out
And finally the finished product. I did fully disassemble the main frame to remove all of the pieces of wood. These parts weren't wet sanded, but instead were just polished out. I did some of it by hand and cheated with the DA a bit using it more like a buffing wheel. To finish it off I put a coating of CQuartz DLux on all the wood as well as all the plastic bits. It came out looking darn good and is probably one of the best looking center consoles in a 180k+ mile car.
