2011 Q5 2.0 Brakes and Rotors with sensor and e-braking
Recently bought a Certi. pre-owned Audi three months ago. My brake pad replacement alert recently came on. I took my Q5 into the dealership and was quoted over $2,000 in price for replacement of front and rear brake pads and rotors. Does anyone know what the thickness in mm is on a set of new brake pads and rotors are? Find hard to believe I need new brakes in less than 5,000 miles. Also, where can I find a local mechanic that specializes in audi repairs (outside of the dealership)?

Welcome to the board! Check Q5 board for more model specific treads.
Every mechanic can replace your brakes. They are nothing special.
What is the total millage on the vehicle? 5000 you made are not relevant unless it was certified that you have new brakes.
You will get specific model information, as rotor thickness, at the model forum.
Four OE rotors plus two sets of pads are less than $600 here so $2000 is way to much. I would never go back there.

I did front and rear rotors and brakes for my 2011 Q5 2.0t at an indy shop for a total of about $820. I bought the parts online at autoanything.com and Europa parts. Labor was about $300 for both front and rear brakes including bedding them in.
