2014 Q5 2.0t - Low brake pedal
My wife's Q5 has low brake pedal since new? Drove one other new Q5 at dealership and basically it felt the same? Just in for 5K service, dealer states " brakes are fine, no codes or mechanical issues. When I drive it, I noticed the spongy, deep travel on the pedal, sometimes wondering if I can stop in time. Has anyone experienced the same and had any resolve?

Fonz, welcome aboard! I think I would have them bleed the brakes - - or you do it using the correct fluid, of course.
The newer pedestrian Q5 models have ceramic pads fitted. I've noticed on our '15 that initial brake bite is poor...I nearly rear-ended someone when I first drove it. It's that bad. You really have to pay attention as high pedal effort is required to get the brakes to stop the heavy vehicle. I cannot say our pedal is "spongy" or with excess travel, but you do have to depress more than one might hope for.
I guess you could change pads if it's a genuine concern. I find it takes some miles and heat cycling before the ceramic pads give a more normal braking experience.
(FWIW, I have removed the OE ceramic pads from my '11 A4 and our '06 A6 (Akebono), and I now have a normal braking experience in both cars.)

Have you bedded the brakes? Didn't think so. Do your job! Besides, it will tell you if they're actually working instead of guessing and worrying about it.

I agree that our brakes need a good breaking in in order for them to stop as quickly and effectively as other vehicles. Follow the bedding directions ELEVENS posted and just be a little more careful and cautious your first 2k miles. After they're broken in, you'll notice a serious change, at least I did.
