In Southern Calgary rather. Something more like Westin and less like Holiday Inn .

Default Duh, no kidding ? :)

I stayed in my share of Sheratons and Westins, and they tend to differ quite a bit between themselves in quality. Some only had their reception area renovated, but rooms were a complete dump.

I'd really appreciate a recommendation based on a personal experience rather than anything else.

Default Can't speak for Calgary. But Westin in Vancouver was great.

The trouble with living near a hotel is that we seldom use them.

I have had good experience with other Westin Hotel in other locations. Sheraton tend to be more spotty as do Fairmont.

This reminds me - Vancouver's Fairmont, the impressive looking one, on Georgia st. actually had a flea problem at some point.

Default Few suggestions -

The Westin is nice. Not as good as some, but OK.

The Hyatt is superb. Beautiful, great service, nice room, great food and good exercise facilities.

I'm partial to the Fairmont Palliser. It's older, as you'd expect, but has been well kept and the service is amazing. The standard rooms are a little small, but if you upgrade to the Fairmont Gold floor it's much better.

The Sheraton at Eau Claire is fairly new, fairly nice - only stayed there nice.

Delta is just ok . . . not as good as the others above.

Hope this helps.
