So they want the free money but wont cut wages to get it? IDIOTS!
How can one reasonable expect money if they dont change their organization to make it sustainable? i understand there are other issues that will get changed, but one of the driving forces behind why they are in this situation in the first place is because of their realatively high employee wages. IDIOTS. I hope they get no monies!

Agreed
Everybody has to make some sort of sacrifice if they want the majority of their employees to survive this. While upper management should do the same thing which was not mentioned at all by the Republicans, by not making any concession until their existing contract is done (late summer 2011!!!), they're only putting themselves at more risk of losing everything.
It would be nice if they did a breakdown of the various costs between say, a GM employee vs a Honda employee at a plan in the states.

I know several people who got laid off... plastics supplier that was 80% automotive
They supplied Magna and Faurecia... I got out of there last April to a non-automotive job. Glad I got out when I did.
Yes, the effect spreads out to many other companies... and yes, if you aren't unionized, you got paid less. But it's the guys who are unionized that generate so much of the debt-load that the big-three have.
