Default Canada to California (KPH to MPH)

Hi,
We live in Canada for now....and,

I'd like to buy my wife Q5 asap because she needs a SUV and loves Q5.
But we have a possibility(??) that we may need to move to California late next year from Ontario.
So, my quick question is that "Canadian 2014 Q5 will be acceptable in California for DMV registration as new Q5 has digital MPH/KPH switching display on the center in between speedo and RPM".
Or should we replace the whole thing to US model cluster to change the analog speedometer to show big MPH numbers?
I had a hard time to search Google for California's DMV regulation w.r.t. Canadian Audi model...

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Think I have found some info here;

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/brochures...cts/ffvr29.htm

It says "Vehicles Purchased From Out of the Country (Grey Market)

California has special requirements for vehicles imported from other countries (including Canada and Mexico). It may be very costly or impossible to modify these vehicles to meet California emission requirements and/or federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS.) No direct import vehicle less than two years old can be converted to California emission standards. Not all direct import vehicles over two years old can be converted to California emission standards and FMVSS."

Too bad.
Canada is considered as a Grey Market by California Gov......

Audi Canada will warranty a US built car. Why not buy the US model right now?

Edit- I meant a US model car. Other than 6% duty I expect you would save a chunk of money as well.
