Default Creeking noise from front suspension

My front left suspension is making some serious creeking noises when I stop, start and turn the wheel back and forth and if I shake the car on the left side.

This started today, I have a 1998.5 A4 with 70,000 Km.

Is this the infamous control arm problem ?

Is it dangerous to drive the car ?

Could it be covered by the latest recall and can I safely wait until we know if it is covered ?

Thanks,

Pierre
