Default Feeler.......2004 S4 Sale

Wondering if there is any interest......US car that I imported in Sept 2007 with all paperwork. Bought from Audi dealeship in Ohio. Light silver metallic on Black leather with silver Alcantara inserts, manual, 55K miles, premium package - every option (except navigation) including Onstar, Sirius Satellite Radio, rear electric sunshade. Stock rims were changed for Audi OEM BBS CH 18's w/Dunlop Sport Max. 17 inch winters with almost new Pilot Alpins included. No modifications. All records available since new. No accidents (2 minor parking lot scrapes that had to be repaired). Looks and runs immaculate. Not in a rush to sell - just considering if the price is right. Based in Toronto.

It would be interesting if the price is right. A similar Canadian car would sell for about ~$20k, a US version should sell for ~$16k or $17k. How much do you want for it?

Your estimate of a Cdn car looks significantly lower than the open market (I did some research). $20K is more like trade-in value or Black-book for a Cdn car. Most of the Cdn cars I've seen with similar mileage and options are in the $24-27K range, so a US car should fetch at least $21-22K in a private party transaction. I'm considering a B7 RS4 or B8 S4 if I can get a decent enough price for my S4.

$20k seems a bit low ( I just picked one up last year)

I may be off by a bit, but not by far. Perhaps $24 at the top end retail for a CDN car.

Wholesale is a different ballgame all together. An S4 with under 80k would be around $20k, under 100k $18k or so.

So wholesale for a US car with 55K miles (Around 88K kilometres) in Canada would be what - Cdn$15K? That would be absurd considering that I've seen Cdn cars with low mileage listed for close to $30K in private party transactions. Funny thing is the same car in the US is selling in the US$ 18-22K for specimens in the 50K - 60K miles range. It's when you get to the 70K miles (110K kilometres)and upwards range that values drop to US$15-$16K.

Some buyers reduce the value of a US car simply because they want to use the "unknown history" (floods, etc) as an excuse to negotiate. When I bought my car, I got the usual carfax records, copies of all maintenance records from the dealership, Audi Assured extended warranty transferred to Canada, and all records transferred to my dealerships's system. Buying private party in the US - now that could be a different story.

I'll probably keep the car if I'm going to get under 20K in a pvt. party transaction.
