Default New RS5! Recommendations for winter Tires?

Hey Guys,

I'm new here or to any forum for that fact. I just got my 2015 RS5 last week and I'm already planning ahead. Do you guys have some recommendations for rims and tires for the winter? I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible($2000-$2500 would be my limit).

Any other advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Default Welcome to the site!

I have always had great luck with The Tire Rack and over the past 25 years have purchased over a dozen sets of tires and wheels from them.

You will want to do a minus-1 or minus-2 sizing… 255/40-18 would be my choice for snow tires. The tire diameter remains the same as OEM so there is no gearing or calibration issues. Eighteen inch wheels will fit your car, as long as you do NOT have the ceramic brake package. Michelin Alpin (sic), Bridgestone Blizzak and Nokian Hakka's have all done yeoman service for me (I only recently moved to LA from New England).

At the 18" size, you will easily get under $2K…

Happy Motoring

Eric

Pretty much agree with Eric.
On my A5 S line I run 18s for winter.
Hartmann wheels from Achtuning, very good replica wheels.
Had Tire Rack ship Blizzaks to Achtuning, they mounted, balanced, and shipped to me.
I have 245/40R18 WS60 Blizzaks.

I've read in some places that 18s may not fit on the RS5s because of the large brake disks. Not sure if anyone can confirm this.

I believe eric provided the correct information. Standard Brakes = 18" can work (ensuring the correct offset).
Ceramic Brakes 18" will not work.

Go to Tire Rack and do wheels for an RS5, you will see it offers 18s for standard brakes, and does not offer 18s for Ceramic Brakes.

I see thanks for the information.

I just contact my dealership and they told me that 18s wouldn't work. I think the RS5 got new standard brakes that are the "wave" style discs. Could it be that Tire Rack isn't account for this change?

Sure could be the case, here is another data point for you, Audi Canada's Winter Tire Page offers 19s.
