So... got a call
From Audi themselves. They submitted/filed my feedback and she did mention that they got a lot of feedback over this same thing and that they appreciate it as this is what they want - understand what consumers want to see in their models.
I was going to joke that I wanted an RS4 for the price of an S4 but that probably get filed in the trash

The reality is that DSG just lets people be even lazier. upshifting at redline for you, etc.
And yes, since it can be trickier to creep away under some conditions, let alone rock yourself out of a tough spot, it isn't ideal for snow.
There are two long term potential problems with DSG. The fluid must be changed regularly. It's not cheap. Since the clutches themselves don't contact one another, but rely on the fluid as a coupling, any severe break-down in this fluid can cause trans failure very quickly. Secondly, during our hot spell last Summer, we noted several DSG failures. How exactly it tied into the weather, is unclear - whether a fluid break-down at the extreme end of temp range, or a valve/tolerance issue - so we shall have to keep our eyes open long term. Certainly chipping on turbo cars is going to raise some long term questions.
Alas it's not my Milano - but a fellow in Canada who took it onto a frozen lake. Yes, it is great fun as I can attest from my trips to the Yukon. But then like you say with DSG, awd is the most efficient and if it understeers, the safest. Where's the fun in that? ;-)

Sounds like they took a page out of government policy best practices...
float a trial balloon, gauge the reaction, and then either back off if people go ape$hit on them, or follow through if people snooze.
