Default I've got a couple easily accessable power bars...

if we're not using it, the power goes off.

Home theatre setup is on one, computer/router/modem/printer is on another.

It alls adds up.

I don't understand how my PS3 or LCD can consume power when they are off (or standby.. whatever)

Default power supplies continue to draw power... have to light up the little "standby' lights. ;)

But in the article, they're referring to leaving the unit turned on for a full year, versus a fridge running.
