I've got a couple easily accessable power bars...
if we're not using it, the power goes off.
Home theatre setup is on one, computer/router/modem/printer is on another.
It alls adds up.

power supplies continue to draw power... have to light up the little "standby' lights. ;)
But in the article, they're referring to leaving the unit turned on for a full year, versus a fridge running.
