No, you're not the only one; the BC bunch's quite vocal about Shell being bad too.
I think I've decided to give Chevron a try (for say 10 tanks), and then Petro Canada and see if I can find any difference.

i fill with Sunoco Ultra 94 because of octane and low sulphur content
If you have access to Irving gas (carried by McEwans in Ontario) then that is a good alternative. Stay far away from Esso (Imperial refinery). Do a Google search on it and you will find many sites asking folks to boycott their gas.

Just curiosity.
Spent a lot of time in Victoria and the island. Had a great drive to Tofino (Summer 2003)! And the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert (June 2002)was excellent (but long!).
