Thanks. It was mildly gratifying to realize that it's not as bad as some folks say.
In fact if you had a mind numbing commute and little else, this wouldn't be a bad choice.

This car is atrocious, we recently had to accept one instead of a Nissan Altima coupe
Pontiac is very proud of their G6. They shouldn't be. It is light years behind the competition.
Simple fault, the steering wheel cruise control buttons are on/off raised buttons on the top of the steering wheel spoke. if you so much as tap the spoke or rest your hand at the 9 o'clock position the cruise gets cancelled.
The car is rife with these sorts of faults.
Engine and transmission are good but the rest of the package is just awful. I wouldn't take one if someone gave it to me.....

Don't accept the new Mazda6 then. While the buttons are better placed, the driveline
is very coarse and crude. A bigger sin IMHO.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/pontiac-g6-gt/</a

Isn't this the latest Duratec iteration? The Mazda 6 is now a sell out
It's bigger than a Jaguar XF! The suspension and so on are all North American sedan style to compete with Honda and Toyota.
The Ford Duratec V 6 is a fine engine but perhaps not so fine in 3.5 and 3.7 sizes.
The biggest version is the Aston Martin V12 which is two Duratec V6 cast as one block. Nothing wrong with that engine.

Not sure. Just an unacceptable level of engine vibrations, and way too much road vibration given
I was driving in LA with good roads and a car with less than 5K miles. It was the combo of engine and suspension that made me question the car. Felt like the pre-facelifted Altima while driving on some rough northern Washington state pavement. I could have forgiven that, had the car some sporting moves, but alas it did not.

Rental BTDT.....wanted to shout "UP PERISCOPE!!!"
going from a 5ktq to the G6 I found the view around the car atrocious. The stupid trunk spoiler stuck up into the rear view and blocked it even more. Meh.
Cheers!
