Side Lane Assist fault
My lane assist packed it in lask week and I had the car in at the dealer to verify which part was the cause. The master Control Module on the right side has failed, this is an easy DYI to remove and install but my question is does one go with a new part or a used part?
The dealer price is $930.60 CAD and the best price I could find was from Audionlineparts.com for $705.00 USD or eBay germany for a used part for $200.00 EUR or $259.00 CAD.
Also I been getting the dreaded DTC P0491 & P0492....great!!! dealer advised that the engine has to be dropped and the secondary injection ports on the exaust manifold have to be cleaned, which I kinda figured with the research I did on the forum. But come on a quote of $4000.00 CAD with 28 hrs labour....really!!! Has anyone else had this issue with the '09 A6 3.0T engine?.
Sad part about this whole thing, is that I purchased the car this past Oct with 83,500 km on it and I chose not to get the extended warranty and now all this. But what really gets me is that VW/Audi have known about this issue for many years with the DI engine yet they still refuse to help or do a recall on it....deny,deny,deny.
Cheers.

Carbon build up is a problem with all direct injection engines. Some have it worse than others but there isn't any real fix for existing engines other than cleaning it. Some manufacturers have added a second set of injectors to new engines to wash the valves to prevent carbon buildup but that's not something that can be easily retrofitted.
