I wouldn't have thought there were enough TTs around in Canada to make that possible. Speculation is that organized crime is getting more and more involved in car thefts with their MO being to export them to third world countries.
At least they have taste in cars :-)

highly doubt they export stolen TT around the world
It's most likely to be used for engine transplant into VW and also to repair accidented TT and VGA TT from the US.

People put 1.8T in any generation of VWs
As for MK4, it's easier and cheaper to just buy one already with a 1.8T in it then to swap the engine later on.
But you are right, lots of parts bolt on on MK4.
I have brakes from a TT on my Jetta. 12.3" instead of the stock 11.3"

Re: highly doubt they export stolen TT around the world
Actually its true... Higher end vehicles stolen here in Toronto are found all the time in containers in Montreal ready to be shipped to South America and Africa where the local governments don't care that they are stolen. Its a huge industry.

Re: never seen that honestly
I work in the field... RCMP have a unit that specifically search the Montreal port containers. I have seen 20 Toronto area cars recovered in the last 3 months alone. All high end.... Lexus, Mercedes, Cadillacs.

allright, fair enough. I beleive you now. ;)
I knew about higher end car. I just had doubts about a 15-20k TT. I mean, there's not a whole lot of money to be made on a car that's relatively cheap nowadays.
You are in the RCMP or just work for the Port of Montreal?
