What is a Performance Driving Experience (PDX) track day?

An SCCA Performance Driving Experience (PDX) track day offers you a chance to drive your car on a real race track. It’s an opportunity to explore the capabilities of your car at greater-than-highway speeds and get practice and instruction in car control and handling. PDXs are noncompetitive, so there is no pressure to perform beyond your comfort level.

Participants are separated by experience and ability into three or four groups, from novice to advanced, with safety as the goal. If you are a novice, you’ll have the guidance of a highly experienced driver riding with you in the car. Of course, FUN is the real reason for participating, and we will do all we can to make your track day one that will keep you smiling for a long time.

Schedule & Requirements

At this event, we’ll drive the Autobahn Country Club South Course in Joliet, Ill. This event will start one hour earlier than usual due to the earlier sunset. The tentative schedule is:

Registration and technical inspection - 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Mandatory drivers' meeting - 3 p.m.
On-track activities commence - 4 p.m.
Sessions end - 7 p.m. or when it becomes too dark for corner workers to see clearly

Fee is $140 for full SCCA members. Nonmembers must purchase a weekend membership.

You don’t need a sports or performance car to participate, just a car (no trucks or SUVs) with a factory hard top or approved roll-over protection, a valid driver’s license, and a helmet (loaner helmets are available). You must be at least 16 years old to register.

If you bring people along, be sure to remind them to ask about “Instructor Ride Along” opportunities available to them for a small fee while they are on site.

any idea when you might do this again in 2016?

We will have at least 5 events this year. Monthly starting in May.
4 afternoon/evening events at Autobahn Country Club, Joliet. 1 full day at Blackhawk Farms, South Beloit in July.
We do not have firm dates yet from the tracks. I'll post them when we know.

Dates for Autobahn Country Club are not set yet. Hope to have them in January.

Our full day event at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, Il will be on Monday July 17, 2017.
