If you are in need of a transmission rebuild, do stay away from BVA France (aka BVA 94, Car's Auto)!
I brought my car in on 10 Feb. They told me that a full rebuild costs 3100 EUR. One week later, I received an invoice of 3555.54 EUR. I paid them when I picked the car up on 21 Feb. Immediately, I noticed that: (i) They did not repaint the housing. (ii) Shifts are rough. (iii) There are some vibration when the steering wheel is turned.
When I got home, I also found out that: (iv) They caused a crack on my engine cover. (v) They lost two screws for the belly pan. (vi) They did not fasten two screws for the belly pan. (vii) They dented the belley pan. (viii) They left two screws on the exhaust loose, and this is the cause of vibration when the steering wheel is turned.
After 400 kms, the condition of the gearbox deteriorated quickly: (ix) The torque converter is hunting. (x) Strange sounds would come from the transmission when shifted into 3rd and 4th.
These symptoms led me to believe that they used salvaged / junk yard torque converter and did not change the valve body (aka bloc hydraulic in French). I therefore brought the car back to them on 1 March. One month later I still don't have my car.
I have called and emailed them multiple times. I also asked the secretary who is French to make the call for me. They always use the excuse that they are waiting for the parts they've ordered. I think they are trying to find another junk yard part to put in my car.
If my experience does not deter you from choosing BVA France, I'd like to do some business with you.
Also, if any of you happen to know any legal channel in France that I can get help from, please let me know. I don't care so much about my old car, but I'd like to see those *******s out of business.
