I'm looking at a 2002 a4 3.0, I'm in communication with the seller and was informed that it has a bad head gasket. I have a few questions, first how much will the replacement cost, or how hard is it to do. Second is price it's listed at 5,000 but i was told they are willing to come down off that, whats a reasonable price?

Here's what I would do, first determine what book value will be, then get a repair quote from a local shop or dealership. Take cost of repair off the asking price of the car, go from there.

Here's what I would do: RUN LIKE HELL!!! If the previous driver drove a 3.0 and ended up with a blown head (rare on 3.0), who knows what else is screwed up.
Go look for a car that has known maintenance records and buy that one; lots of saved money and time in the long run...
