No, you're not alone - I have been mentioning this issue of for a few days on the A6 C7 board. I have my CP Options set to "linear oldest first" and yet what I see on the various boards and threads within the same board seems to be random in terms of how they are displayed.
It would help if the maintainer of the site sent a broadcast message (if this is possible) alerting to the problem and what the time frame is for resolution. Even bad news beats silence IMHO.

This is sadly the first I'm hearing of this particular problem.. I've been hitting the tech guys up on a variety of other problems, hadn't seen the ordering problem till this morning.

Its in linear mode where the problem is.
They go newest first regardless of user settings and I sometimes get odd post numbers too (though this seems limited to my Android 4.0 device and its limited 'Browser')
I get it in all my android devices - one is 4.0 with browser only. Other two are 4.4 with Chrome.
My PC does it too, using Opera (haven't checked with Chrome yet).
This has been happening since the site update several months ago.
Kris, I've actually emailed you about this twice (probably came from my private email), but figured you probably get hundreds of emails from this site daily, and may either filter me due to unknown email, or were getting to it but still had other update issues.

And having just posted that reply my browser sent me to an "Invalid page reference" or something.
So I clicked on 'New Posts' to see if my reply took - which it had appeared to as it was the top post with my name on it.
So I click the link back to this post and I can no longer see my fresh reply... Post from Kris asking about Linear or Threaded mode (btw what is threaded mode?) is the latest I can see...
It was doing this a couple of months ago too, but had seemed to be fixed.

I've been seeing the same reverse order for the last 5-6 days. I was on vacation last week and I thought it could be something with the hotel computer which was running IE.
I'm at home now and using Google Chrome. I did reset my preferences a couple of days ago and it solved it for a while but it's back today.

It is linear mode and the order is random. Same thing happened just after the upgrade, than all was good and now it is back. I hope that helps.
