P0299 code on a 2009 A4
Also posted under 2.0 thread.
Check engine light came on the other day, code P0299. Been searching for 2 days and cant find an concrete information about what to look for to diagnose it. Little background: Car has 56k miles, bone stock. Dealership replaced the pistons and rings about 6 months ago. I have felt that the car has been sluggish for the past 3-4 months. The only other thing that seems different is when i let off the gas i can hear a fast loud clicking or tapping sound while the engine is revving down, not sure where its coming from, but it wasnt there (or at least not as noticeable) before.
When the dealership was working on the pistons they told me the waste gate actuator valve might fail within 5-10k miles and its been about that, but i read that that wouldnt necessarily throw a code. If it is, can i just replace that piece? I have also read it could be the diverter valve or a leak in the system. Hoping i could fix it myself due to money constraints at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.
