engine swap
i'm looking to put a 20v turbo into my 82 Audi Coupe. what years (if any) of the 20v will bolt up to the front wheel drive 013 transmission? if they match the bell-housing, will they mount in the engine bay a similar way? any input would be great. (i'm new to this, but raring to get started.)

Hi
Boy are you keen...I'm on my 18th Audi since 1985 and work at an Audi dealer right now (Audi Brand Specialist)
My thoughts: [good bad or indifferent} are WHY spend so much time effort and money on a 32 year old FWD car that was never really that good in the first place.
The best of AUDI is QUATTRO and FWD is of minimal value at best: Buy a UR Quattro (1980-1983) and do that conversion on IT!! Now that is brilliant!
If you foolishly want to press ahead buy the parts car that this engine came from because you will need it and many bits that you will struggle to find
Good luck, you must be a masochist!!!!!

thanks for your honest opinion! you bring up a very good point, although it is a bit disappointing to hear that much of my effort has been in vain. i'll definitely give it some thought.

so pricey
well, it seems that even really ratty Ur Quattros are out of my price range at the moment, so i'm not sure what i'm going to do. i realize 2wd isn't really worth a whole lot in the realm of Audi, but its all i have right now, and probably for a while to come... current engine runs very well and i have a few places where i may be able to get the parts required to boost the 10v for a reasonable price. while i do value your input on the matter, i will most likely continue down my foolish path.

Save the money that you are dying to dump into this project and buy a Quattro...
I've seen UR Quattros for $8-10K and if you are patient, you will find the right affordable car.
Call Audi tuners about engine compatibility before you start pulling it apart....If you knew it would cost $5000 to do this, would you still do it? Because it will and probably quite easily!
Go and get a 2.7 biturbo Audi Allroad 6sp MT and change the ECU ...The car can be had well under $5K and the ECU is $400 and then you will have a 335hp Allroad...replace the air suspension as soon as you have a problem and then you will have a FANTASTIC AWD Quattro under $7,000....How do I know this? I have this car excatly!!! For sale too for $9,000
