Default Buying an RI car w/ out title, registering it in NH?

There is some guy selling a B5 in RI that i'd really like to pick up. He claims he does not have the title as Rhode Island does not require titles for cars over 10 years old, unfortunately New Hampshire does. The car is currently registered and on the road in RI. Is there anyway to make this work?

Best and Thanks!

Default I would call the NH DMV. Without a title, how do you know there is no lien???

...or if the car has a salvage title, or if the seller is really the true owner of the car?

Default 2nd, given your last experience with buying a car i would be very careful

Also, I know you live downtown... where are you planning to keep it?

On street your bumper is sacrificial, off street you'll pay an easy $350 a month.

Default Please don't tell me that you are buying the green S4 from RI that has 170K on the body and 90K

on the engine. I would reconsider it, that car seems like it has been through hell.

Default nope, B5 not a C4 S4

In NH, 15 y/o cars don't need titles. Just need to sign an affidavit and get an authorized visual inspection that the car exists. I've done it on a few old cars w/ no paperwork

Default oh trust me, just ask BCSGuy & DeepCover I am ridiculously **** about buying private sale cars..

After what happened last time. The C4 I bought from someone here on the AW was great, and sale went smoothly but that jerk-off kid I got the 1.8T from... well thats another story.

I am actually going to be keeping the car at my parents house. I will need a car over winter break, as well as during the summer when I am home working (unless I somehow get a paying internship in the city this summer).

Default He is right on the RI not needing a title...

"Vehicles that are 10 years old and older are no longer titled in the State of Rhode Island. The Registration Files section in the Pawtucket DMV branch can assist you in documenting the vehicle's information. Default You need the registration and a bill of sale, then you can register it in NH

run a carfax first, make sure the car doesn't have a salvage title.
