Dashboard cuts out when driving

Dashboard cuts out when driving
hi everyone.
i have a audi a3 2.0 tdi 2003 plate. when driving my dash board cuts out. Windows, aircon and window wipers don't work either. but induictaots and radio work?? Car still drives along fine. But, when you stop the car and take key out and then put it back in again, no dash board lights come on and what i already mentioned still don't work, the car starts up and then straight away cuts out.
i used to fiddle about with the key by putting it in and out over and over again to get it to work but now i have to wait 10 -15 mins then put key back in and then the car will work like nothing has happened.
ive read it could be the ignition barrel or card reader? any thoughts on this would be great.

Accessory mode stopped working, when I turn they key off all power is gone, no radio no windows..etc
