Used Q5 Owner
Bought a used 2011 Q5 2.0T Premium a few weeks ago with 97k miles. A bit of a emotional/impulse purchase. We were looking at Murano, Outback, Highlander as my wife wanted AWD since we moved to SW Michigan and does like sitting up higher.
The bad news is that it has the infamous oil burning issue on the 2.0T. So it's like rescuing a abused puppy from an animal shelter. It's going to take some tender loving care and a few trips to the Audi dealer 50 miles away to resolve it. Consumption is around 1 quart for every 200 miles. It's so high I'm having trouble accurately tracking it and the oil light comes on once a week even before we've gone through a tank of gas. There's visible smoke that you can't see from the drivers seat, but you can when following it! Every time you accelerate after the engine has been under vacuum. 1st appointment is Friday for the breather replacement and ECU software update.
Absolutely love the car overall. We looked at a used X3 with less miles. But it seemed just a little smaller, firmer seat, less luxurious, steering is a little to firm at low speeds for my wife's preference, firmer ride... and it cost 20% more. The Q5 feels faster too. It feels faster... and is faster than my 325i. The low end torque is impressive. It's like it has a V8 or something. Even a V6 revs more I think most of the time. I do wish it sounded more like the I6 in my BMW though.
