So I decide to go with these guys that totally blew me away with the customer service I experienced during their 3 hr. "quote" (read *needs analysis*).
I called them on a whim, noting a truck I saw downtown Palo Alto that was clean and had properly inflated tires.
They showup when they said they would. "Bueno"
The truck was clean, well maintained and the tires were properly inflated. =)
Three guys, each came up and introduced themselves. "Mui Bueno"
They unloaded most of the "kit" . . . the A/C unit was "on it's way" . . . nice High Eff. furnace . . . insulation . . . =)

After checking out the scene the crewchief Andrew gave his guys some immediate tasks. The first was remove the existing return and ducts.
The existing return suffered from a "lack of integrity" which allowed the unit to draw air directly out of the attic . Basically missing one side of the framed 2x4 box fixture. The remains.

The return ducting, as most, was *mui nasty* . . . It was all gone in about 30 minutes . . !

They are professional and enthusiastic . . . the A/C being offloaded . . . there are two other guys in this picture but they are invisible . . . Jeff, left, one of the owners and Andrew, Crewchief, the guy who gets it done . . .

I thought to myself, "man that's a big box, must be a bunch of packing material . . .". I went and got the brochure to look for dimensions. I hadn't looked at the dimensions thinking "high efficency" covers all planes of perception. Size I had imagined was also considered efficient. As always the laws of nature dictate form, "HE" turns out to be nearly 50" tall, 36" wide and 40" deep ! They don't mention the weight cuz it's a heavy **** . . .
My resident ThermoDynamicist (Dad) cautiously inspecting the *massive* dual stage condenser/compressor "Steely Dan" . . . ok well maybe "Aluminumy Dan" . . ?

Problem I have, is that there is no place where I an fit an AC unit like that outside the house.
To narrow on the sides, no real room in back and I am on a hill. Maybe the attic?
