Driving to Seattle via Hwy 1. Any suggestions?
On Friday morning we're driving the S4 up to Seattle via Highway 1. Looks like we'll cut back to I5 right about the Oregon border. Does any one have any words of advice / suggestions for lunch stops / etc?

Between the highway begging you to go faster with each turn and the 4.2L engine...
...don't pass a gas station! Sometimes it can be a stretch between decent gas stops (Chevron, Shell, etc.). The wife and I love the Surfside Market in Gualala to grab some lunch food and then hit one of the local beaches. Don't know if you'll have the time for that, though.
Good luck with the move and we'll see you at Infineon.

which border, OR/CA or OR/WA???
hopefully you meant the latter; the southern OR coast is really magnificent!! dont' cut back inland until you're up by Newport or such. have lunch at the Pub @ Bandon Dunes Golf resort.

including discretionary tourist stops, border to border on 1 will eat up ~8 hrs.

Once you pass Eureka
things get much wilder and civilized spots more rare. Make sure to not run low on fuel. Very slow as others say. Often windy, misty, damp, or rainy, so pack some clothes/gear for that.
Timber Cove Lodge on the Cali coast is a good breakie/lunch stop. If you over-night in Eureka, the Carter House is the place to stay. After that I can't advise because when I drove it, I was camping;-)
It's a simply incredible drive! Enjoy!

Whatever route you choose, take a whole lot of pics!
Instead of Hwy 1, I took 101 all the way to the WA border just across the Astoria bridge. The time I saved from skipping Hwy 1 was spent going up the Oregon coast. It was a nice, scenic drive.
