Looking for some insight Nor Cal folks...

As much as some folks like it up here, if you're going to be in the tuner scene,
go to SoCal. Yeah, more competition, but also much larger customer base, more shows and gtgs to feature your wares, more street scene stuff year round, cheaper wharehousing, larger base of skilled and knowledgable tradespeople (like exhaust, paint, etc), and from a personal standpoint, cheaper housing (if comparing something comparable), more babes, usable beaches all year round, better roads (OC), and drivers who actually use a FREAKING TURN SIGNAL NOW AND THEN!!!!!!!
I used to live in Newport, up on the bluffs overlooking where the Santa Ana River meets the beach (double master suite condo with 2 car carport went for $1350 a month). It was at most a mile to the beach and I used to go walking there a lot before and after work. Weather virtually always 70, and if you steer clear of being right down by the water, the traffic is manageable.
You have all kinds of canyon roads for playing with, camping too, and Catalina Island for going and chilling.
Just a thought.

hey, Scott...
I moved out here in March and can definitely say I like it better than back east so far. The weather is perfect, not nearly as humid as summers in Princeton, and SF strikes me as a mini-NYC, but people are friendlier.
Traffic is worse than back east and I can sort of see how people would get sick of 50 straight days of 75 and sunny weather. In any case, so far so good. I've got a friend that lives in Seattle and loves it despite the rain and as an aside, DC is probably my favorite city so far, though I've never lived there. GL

Hey man! I had no idea you jetted outa the NE. Sounds like you made yourself at home quite quickly
and comfortably at that.
I think the first step in this process is really to stop reading and start exploring. On paper life seems perfect but that can only stretch so far...
Be in touch shortly I'm sure.
